Hotels and restaurants across North America are choosing a new
technology to provide their guests with a Healthier, Quieter, More Energy Efficient
TM environment - the sort of environment that allows guests a
more enjoyable night’s stay and dining experience.
The Treetops Inn, a new 45 room two-story hotel in Jackson,
Mississippi, found the answer to their needs in a new, water-based foam
insulation that creates a complete air barrier. This innovative insulation
technology called The Icynene Insulation System ®, which is
sprayed in place and expands 100 times its volume, was chosen because of
its ability to deliver improved air quality, energy savings (as much as
30% to 50%) and sound control. It also prevents the occurrence of mold
related to condensation and humidity, especially in southern or coastal
climates. "By sealing a building, reducing pollution sources, and
controlling the air leaving it, we can greatly reduce the threat of
airborne pollutants" said Bruce Small, director of the Envirodesic TM
Certification Program, which independently tests and certifies building
products that contribute to healthy indoor air. "The Icynene
Insulation System ®, in tandem with mechanical ventilation, is
a key to avoiding the growth of mold," said Mr. Small.
Icynene Insulation has been proven safe and effective in independent
tests by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National
Laboratories, the National Association of Home Builders Research Center,
and the Florida Solar Energy Center at Cape Canaveral.
